If you have ever felt like something in your life was “off,” even when you could not fully explain it, you’re not alone. Many people sense when their body, emotions, or energy feel out of balance long before they have words for it.
That is often where the conversation around energy healing begins.
This blog is inspired by Discover Healing’s educational article on energy healing and honors the work of Dr. Bradley Nelson, founder of The Emotion Code®, The Body Code™, and The Belief Code®. Discover Healing describes energy healing as a group of holistic practices that work with the mind-body connection and the body’s natural energy systems to support emotional and physical well-being. Their article also explains that these approaches are meant to complement, not replace, licensed medical care.
For me, energy healing is about listening more deeply and noticing what the body may be carrying. It’s about understanding that our thoughts, emotions, stress patterns, and beliefs can leave an imprint. And, about gently helping the body release what no longer serves so it can return to greater balance.
A Simple Way to Understand Energy Healing
At its core, energy healing is based on the idea that the human body is more than muscles, bones, and organs alone. We also live with emotional energy, mental energy, spiritual energy, and deeply rooted subconscious patterns.
Discover Healing explains that energy healing involves working with the natural connection between mind and body to support health and well-being. Their article also notes that many energy healing methods focus on balancing, accessing, or supporting the body’s natural energy systems.
In everyday terms, I would say it like this:
Energy healing is the process of helping the body communicate more clearly so hidden stress, trapped emotions, imbalances, and limiting beliefs can be identified and released.
When that happens, people often feel lighter, clearer, more grounded, and emotionally steady. And sometimes they begin to understand why they have felt stuck for so long.
Why This Work Resonates with So Many People
So many people are doing “all the right things” and still do not feel like themselves.
They are trying to think positively, pushing through stress, and showing up for everyone else. Yet deep down, they still feel overwhelmed, reactive, tired, disconnected, or emotionally heavy.
That does not mean they are broken. It may simply mean the body is holding unresolved stress in ways the conscious mind has not fully addressed.
Dr. Bradley Nelson’s work has helped many people begin looking beneath the surface. His teachings emphasize that the body has its own wisdom and that the subconscious mind can reveal underlying imbalances that may be affecting how a person feels physically, emotionally, and mentally. Dr. Bradley Nelson shares that The Emotion Code, Body Code, and Belief Code were developed to help people identify and release these kinds of energetic imbalances.
This is one reason I value this work so much. It helps people stop asking, “What is wrong with me?” And begin asking, “What might my body still be holding onto?”
The Roots of Energy Healing
Energy healing is not new.
Discover Healing’s article points to longstanding traditions behind this work, including Traditional Chinese Medicine, the meridian system, the chakra system, and the concept of life-force energy described in traditions such as prana and ch’i. Also, noting that acupuncture is one example of a practice built around balancing energy flow.
Across cultures and generations, people have recognized that health is not only physical. There has long been an understanding that vitality, emotion, thought, and spirit are all connected.

While different modalities use different language, many of them point to a similar truth:
When energy flows well, we tend to feel more balanced.
When energy becomes blocked, burdened, or disrupted, we may begin to feel that imbalance in our emotions, our relationships, our choices, or even our body.
Everything Carries Energy
One of the most important ideas in this field is that everything carries energy — including thoughts, emotions, and the body itself.
That idea may sound abstract at first, but most people have already experienced it.
You can walk into a room and feel tension. You can speak to someone and sense sadness, anger, or peace. You can remember an old hurt and feel it in your chest, your stomach, or your throat almost instantly.

The body remembers, the nervous system remembers, and the subconscious remembers.
Discover Healing’s article explains that many energy healing practitioners believe our bodies, thoughts, and emotions are all energetic in nature and connected in ways we do not always see.
This is where I find the work so meaningful. Even when a person cannot explain why they feel a certain way, the body often has a story to tell.
What Energy Healing May Support
Energy healing is not a magic fix, and it is not a replacement for medical or mental health care. But it can be a beautiful complement to the support a person is already receiving.
According to Discover Healing, potential benefits people seek through energy healing include a gentle, non-invasive experience, support from either in-person or distance sessions, and help in identifying energetic root causes that may be contributing to emotional or physical symptoms. Their article also mentions that people may seek this work to reduce feelings like anxiousness or sadness, improve relationships, and release imbalances that may be holding them back.
In my own words, people often turn to this work because they want to:
- feel less emotionally burdened
- understand patterns that keep repeating
- release old pain that still affects the present
- feel more connected to themselves
- gain clarity around physical or emotional stress
- shift beliefs that quietly shape their life
Sometimes the change feels subtle at first, and other times it can feel profound.
Often, it begins with awareness.
My Approach to Energy Healing
As a Discover Healing Practitioner trained in Dr. Bradley Nelson’s work, I always want to give proper recognition to the foundation he and his team have created.
The methods I offer are rooted in:
The Emotion Code®
This method is based on the idea that emotions can become trapped in the body as energetic baggage. Discover Healing describes it as a way of using muscle testing to identify and release trapped emotional energy that may be affecting how a person feels.
The Body Code™
Discover Healing explains that The Body Code expands the search to broader categories of imbalances in the body, including areas related to structure, organs, nutrition, pathogens, and more—the intention of finding deeper root causes behind symptoms.
The Belief Code®
According to Discover Healing, The Belief Code focuses on subconscious belief systems that may be limiting a person’s healing, growth, relationships, confidence, or sense of possibility.
What I love about these modalities is that they honor the body’s intelligence.

They do not force, they do not shame-they invite discovery and help us ask better questions—creating space for meaningful release.
What a Session May Help Reveal
A session may uncover patterns such as:
- emotional energy from past experiences
- inherited, absorbed, or shared stress
- subconscious beliefs like “I’m not safe,” “I’m not enough,” or “I have to do it all alone”
- imbalances that may be contributing to tension, overwhelm, fatigue, or feeling stuck
- emotional layers connected to relationships, work, money, visibility, or self-worth
So often, people are not just dealing with what is happening right now. They are also carrying what never had the chance to be processed before.
That is why energy healing can feel so validating. It gives language to what the body may have been trying to communicate for years.
Is Energy Healing Safe?
Discover Healing describes energy healing as generally gentle and noninvasive, while also noting that some people may feel tired, emotional, or notice physical sensations after a session as the body processes what has shifted.
Their article emphasizes that energy healing should be viewed as complementary care rather than a substitute for licensed medical treatment.
That is an important point, and I fully agree.
Energy healing can be a powerful support, but it belongs alongside appropriate medical, mental health, and wellness care when needed.
Different Types of Energy Healing
The Discover Healing article highlights several well-known energy-based practices, including acupuncture, Reiki, meditation, chakra healing, and Dr. Bradley Nelson’s methods.
Each approach has its own framework, but many of them share a common purpose: helping the body move from stress and imbalance toward greater harmony.
Some people connect deeply with meditation. Others resonate with acupuncture or Reiki. And still others feel especially drawn to techniques like The Emotion Code, The Body Code, and The Belief Code because they offer a more specific way to identify hidden imbalances through the subconscious mind.
There is not one single path for everyone.
The important thing is finding an approach that feels aligned, supportive, and safe for you.
Who Energy Healing May Be For
Energy healing may be supportive for someone who:
- feels emotionally weighed down
- notices repeating life patterns
- wants a gentle, holistic layer of support
- senses there is a root issue beneath the surface
- feels disconnected from their body or intuition
- wants help shifting subconscious blocks
It can also be helpful for people who are highly capable on the outside but still feel inwardly stuck.
This is something I see often in entrepreneurs, professionals, helpers, and high-functioning individuals who have learned to keep going no matter what.
Many of them do not need more pressure. They need more release.
A Loving Reminder
Healing does not always begin with doing more. Sometimes it begins with listening.
Listening to the body, listening to your emotions, and listening to the patterns that keep asking for your attention.
Energy healing offers a gentle way to do that.

And when this work is approached with care, discernment, and the right support, it can become a meaningful part of a person’s healing journey.
